48' Buizen Pilothouse Yacht Wavelength
Buizen 48 Wavelength was the 5th Buizen built and was launched in November 1993
She is a 4 cabin layout , a double in the for peak , 2 single bunks amid ships fwd, a double port aft and a single stbd aft. She has two Vacuflush toilets and 2 showers.
The Galley is beautifully appointed with ample storage and is fitted with a Broadwater two burner gas stove and oven , Mitsubishi carousel microwave , twin stainless steel sinks a front loading eutectic fridge and top loading freezer.
The Pilot house is the perfect area to occupy on long voyages offering all weather protection from the elements should they present as unaccommodating on deck. Fully reverse cycle air conditioned for your comfort. Navigating Wavelength is made very comfortable from the large leather covered bucket helm seat and allows you to get excellent all round vision of your surroundings.
Below the pilothouse floor is the relatively spacious engine room housing the Main Yanmar 100 Hp diesel engine ( 3902 hrs ) and 6.5 Kva Onan generator ( 1305 hrs ) , air conditioning units, eutectic refrigeration systems, various pumps and fuel and water tankage.
Moving out into the spacious cockpit there is ample seating around fold up table with ice box in the centre for casual dining. The helm is a large leatherbound wheel and instruments are mounted just in front for easy sighting. Electric hydraulic winching from the cockpit means you donu2019t have to go up on deck to raise or lower the main or unfurl the headsail. The cockpit is covered with a bimini offering protection from our harsh environment and there is timber seating on the aft rail to accommodate the skipper and 4 friends . The gas BBQ is mounted on the rear railing as well.
Mounted on the transom is the factory fitted heavy duty davits capable of coping with the
3.1 m RIB with 9.9 Hp Yamaha outboard. The Track Sat dish is also mounted on the davits allowing access to all free to air channels available and or Foxtel should you desire. On the transom is the stainless steel swim ladder and access to the gas locker and hot and cold shower.
The owners of Wavelength have spared no expense in maintaining her during the life of the vessel. Mechanical servicing of all equipment has been meticulously carried out as required. In 2015 the 12 V electrical systems were upgraded and modified to cover all contingencies for the supply and recharging of the 2 x 12V systems, this included addition of Inverter / Charger, Solar panels, larger alternators off the main engine and installation of a secondary bank of house batteries.
In March 2016 the rig was removed and fully refurbished, repainted with new 2 pack white epoxy paint , all running and standing rigging was replaced and all wiring within the mast replaced with new for longevity. A new Harken headsail furler was added at the time for ease of operation.
Her Raymarine electronics package was upgraded in 2015 to keep her up to date with the latest technology. Redundancy has been added to many facets of her operation , autopilot, plotter,VHF and HF antennas, just to name a few.
